It was in the month of December when I first read about this competition. During that time, I was busy with my CAT preparations. Also I was busy working for promoting IIM Bangalore fest. When I gone through the details, I liked the concept of NMO. I thought that being MBA aspirant, I should take part in it. But too occupied with preparation and day to day work, I totally forgot about the competition. It is because of time to time update by the NMO team on the social media, which reminded me about the competition. I still remember I filled with form 2-3 days before the last date of registration. I was even reluctant to pay the fees as I constant buzz on ‘ time waste’ constantly haunt me. When I give it to my gut and filled the form. The prelims round was moderate and I scored 61%. I was not sure, whether the score was good or not. I waited for the result. After 3-4 days one whatsApp message came from NMO that I am selected for second round. At was pleasantly shocked. I called them to confirm the news. In the second round, we were given business cases and it was my first time that I solved any such thing. I prepared my solution and submit it. And this happens in semi-finals and finals.
My NMO journey was full of new people, new ideas and whole new thought process. NMO gave me a path to achieve self-confidence to pursue management. A lot of times, I was encounter with strange questions as “why NMO”, “when you will prepare for cat”, “go for GMAT, foreign b-schools will value this”, “Indian B-schools don’t value such stuff”. To these, entire all I just want to say that NMO is above all. NMO will enhance your management skills by challenging you in every sphere of competition. NMO make your talent recognise. And gives you a reason to call your old connections. It is a future question whether Indian B- schools value this or not. In the end participate in NMO not because of the benefit, not because for profile improvement but to enhance your skills. After participating NMO, I have attained self confidence that I know that I have a brilliant skill set of management. And the brilliant people and wonderful friends- Poonam, Sumeet, kriti, Kamlesh , you will make through this journey are going to make you laugh and make your journey lovable. In the end, participate NMO for your passion and for yourself. And you will embracethe whole journey which is full of hard work, sacrifice, surprises and most important self discovery.
