SELCO Business Strategy
SELCO is a social initiative company who provide technological and financial assistance to the rural and poor sections of society. The company provides technological and financial assistance to the poor so that they get the basic needs of their lives and generate or save income from these sources or benefit from the renewable resources.
Being an IT department, I make sure that the idea is based so that the information flow is seamless, analysis is done in details and presentation of data is clear and unambiguous.
Target users – poor sections of the society
What are they producing- major products are solar cooker, light working helmet, solar light lamps
Benefits- eradicate use of kerosene, availability of light; provide assistance for late work in late evening.
PROBLEM- HOW SELCO SHOULD EXPAND ITS BUISNESS?
SOLUTION
Product line expansion-
New products which the company can venture are-
Solar refrigerators- in India, poor face a lot of medical hardships. A lot of medicines they are buying are used on the immediate basis. A lot of vaccines need a cold storage to store them. Because of this, many poor people are not getting right treatment. With this product poor can store the medicines for the later uses and they the right treatment for their common treatment.
BENEFIT- timely recovery of illness
COST- will be higher as compared to rest of the products.
Solution- The cost can be managed by the one person or a group to buy the refrigerator and charges a nominal fee to store the medicines.
Solar Water Pump- A scarcity of clean drinking water in villages impacts all aspects of everyday life According to UNICEF, 13-year-old children have been affected by the lack of clean water in multiple areas of her life. They often suffered from diarrhoea because of dirty drinking water. They also walked about five kilometres to collect the nearest water, leaving her exhausted and creating another roadblock to her education.
BENEFIT- access of water become easier and maintenance cost reduces considerable.
Travelling time is eliminated
COST- High but can be managed by the group it will a source of all. Maintenance and record handling can be done by the software designed by us.
