Case Understanding

Current issues impacting inefficiency of farmers and distribution of fresh farm  Production and transportation time Farmers are rigid in their traditional methods like harvesting produce at a bit early stage and ripening them either through a chemical process and natural process during transit and storage was a lengthy process. Farmers didn't agree with the on-demand-based partial harvesting system as they prefer to harvest whole farmland at one which would take a lot of time.  Limited capital As a self-funded organization, there was only a limited amount of initial capital which may cause in planning for incentives.  Limited resources There was a limited human and technical resource for packaging and cleaning facility. There was also limited transportation in consumer's places which cost a lot of time in distribution.  Challenge of recruitment Recruiting employees in other cities keeping limited capital in mind is a challenging task. Recruiting net demandable human resources in the production area and packaging area is also challenging.  Loss of wastage Unconditional wastage of farm products costs a large amount of loss.

Solution

Human resource:

Human Resources is the department in charge of all employees and employee-related operations. As a term, we also use it to describe the entire workforce of an organization. It is used to describe both the people who work for a company or organization and the department responsible for managing all matters related to employees, who collectively represent one of the most valuable resources in any business or organization.

On-demand recruitment

On-demand recruiting, also called on-demand talent, is filling the right position with the right talent at the right time. On-demand recruiting is a recruitment service that provides hourly or per project (daily) hiring to meet an organizations’ existing talent needs. On-demand workers can either work on-site or remotely depending on the job’s requirements. A business can prefer this type of recruiting to extend its in-house talent capabilities at short notice.

Training of farmers and employees

Training of farmers- In recent years, the adoption of digital technologies in precision agriculture has been adjusting the ways that farmers treat crops and manage fields. One doesn’t have to be an expert to see how the technology has changed the concept of farming making it more profitable, efficient, safer, and simple.

Among other technologies, some of the best are:

Indoor Vertical Farming-Indoor vertical farming can increase crop yields, overcome limited land area, and even reduce farming’s impact on the environment by cutting down distance traveled in the supply chain. Indoor vertical farming can be defined as the practice of growing produce stacked one above another in a closed and controlled environment.

Farm Automation-Farm automation, often associated with “smart farming”, is the technology that makes farms more efficient and automates the crop or livestock production cycle.

Precision Agriculture-Agriculture is undergoing an evolution - technology is becoming an indispensable part of every commercial farm.

Training of employees- Training of employees is crucial for organizational development and success. It is fruitful to both employers and employees of an organization. An employee will become more efficient and productive if he is trained well with the modern workplace that consists of remote employees and diverse cultures, training methods for employees have changed. So, how do we approach learning in such a complex workplace? The answer lies in two words: ‘social’ and ‘online’:

Social Learning-Originating from Albert Bandura's work, social learning is commonly defined as learning from others by observing, imitating, and modeling their behavior. Social learning can be a very intentional workplace training method, too.

Online Training-eLearning, or online training, has become one of the most widely recognized solutions to the challenge of how to train employees effectively. Online workplace training programs can include eLearning courses, webinars, videos, etc., and allow information to be presented and tested in many different ways.

On-The-Job Training-With on-the-job training, not only are employees actively involved in learning, but they also participate in real activities that relate to their current or future job. This is one of the most effective training methods for succession planning.

Creation of open franchise:

Franchising your business is a proven route to rapid growth. But becoming a franchisor is not an automatic ticket to success, especially in this challenging economy.

Still, many business owners dream of seeing their brand become a household name, with a network of franchisees from coast to coast or around the globe. When the right concept is franchised effectively, it can be a great expansion strategy that doesn't require as much up-front capital as growing through company-owned units.

Becoming a successful new franchisor entails making many thoughtful decisions early on that will affect your business for years to come. There's also a lot of legal paperwork to wade through to make sure your business complies with federal and state laws that regulate the franchise industry.

Payment of incentives

An incentive is an object, item of value, or desired action or event that spurs an employee to do more of whatever was encouraged by the employer through the chosen incentive:

Compensation incentives may include items such as raises, bonuses, profit sharing, signing bonuses, and stock options.

Recognition incentives include actions such as thanking employees, praising employees, presenting employees with a certificate of achievement, or announcing an employee's accomplishment at a company meeting. Employers can offer recognition incentives as part of an overall company employee recognition program.

Rewards incentives include items such as gifts, monetary rewards, service award presents, and items such as gift certificates. An additional example is employee referral awards that some companies use to encourage employees who refer candidates who perform effectively on your job when hired.

Appreciation incentives include such happenings as company parties and celebrations, company-paid family activity events, ice cream socials, birthday celebrations, sporting events, paid group lunches, and sponsored sports teams.

Providing resources for packaging and transportation

It involves using various technologies, the internet of things devices, big data analytics, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and robotics. It is scientifically proven that using these technologies increases profit, minimizes waste, and maintains the environment’s quality.

Conclusion
Hence the conclusion concludes that the five-stage strategy may help the farmers to produce a high amount of vegetables with respective demand as well as this strategy will help in lessening the time taken in packaging and transportation. The right amount of employees at the right place with the right abilities will help in lessening the production loss. The overall process will help and providing efficiency for the farm-to-table concept.
